From Effectiveness to Greatness
‘Few of us can do great things,
but all of us can do small things with great love’ –
Mother Theresa
In 1989, ‘7 habits of highly effective people’ was published. In 2001, Stephen R. Covey came up with another interesting book: The 8th Habit.
Main Theme: It is not enough to be effective but one needs to be ‘great’ to survive in knowledge society of today. In order to be great, find your inner voice and help others find their inner voice. This is path of greatness. This book i.e. The 8th Habit guides a person how to achieve greatness.
THE PAIN – THE PROBLEM – THE SOLUTION
First three chapters of the book: The pain, The Problem and The Solution.
The Pain: People are frustrated due to many reasons. At times, they are not happy. Painful reality: Effectiveness now is a must, not a choice. Companies expect their employees to produce more while they want to control their costs by paying less to employees.
Civilizations are now entering into knowledge age.
The Problem: People are still trying to apply industrial mind-set to deal with problems of knowledge age!
The solution: Find your inner voice and help others find their inner voice!
MIND – BODY – HEART – SPIRIT
Every human being is composed of four components: mind, body, heart and spirit.
How can a person develop greatness?
Lets hear out the Author speaking himself – a nice story and very passionate style of speech. Take some time out and listen, learn and enjoy. Share your thoughts..
More ideas from the book in coming week. Happy reading!
