Think and grow rich – a six step plan to become rich!

Think and Grow Rich

I always thought that a person should work hard, earn more and grow rich.

However, Napoleon Hill suggests that first, change your thinking if you want to earn money and become rich. Once ‘organized thinking’ is cultivated, achievement of the goal to beome rich turns easier! Do you believe this?

Generally it is considered that being rich means being wealthy i.e. having lots of money. However, in the all time best-selling book: Think and grow rich, Mr. Hill has advocated that all the blessings of almighty including our ability to work, a sense of happiness, joy, peace of mind, strength, courage, wisdom and of course money – all are ‘riches’ and hence, one can achieve richness by ‘thinking’ first and then working towards them.

Think and grow rich is the book which took 25 years in making!

Story of the book is quite fascinating. One day Mr. Hill was asked by one of the billionaires of his time, Mr. Andrew Carnegie, to work for him – free!

What was the work? Mr. Hill was asked to meet and interview rich people of that time. Mr. Carnegie thought that much of what is taught in schools cannot make a person rich. Rather its the school of experience and life through which people can learn on getting more in life. Mr. Hill was asked that once he started working on the project and if the project’s spirit is correct, Mr. Hill will become rich in the process. What did Mr. Hill do? He accepted the challenge!

After completing the book and its publication, it became one of the all times best selling book which made Mr. Hill rich and wealthy.

This book is considered to be as one of the best in harnessing our thoughts and taking an organized approach towards ‘thinking’. The first line of the first chapter is: Truly “Thoughts are things” – This reminds us of the best selling book: “The Secret” (You can read about Rhonda Byrne’s international best seller from: http://wp.me/pHUHq-4q)

Before we explore the ideas from this book, in this post, let me share with you a six step process explained by author to become rich.

Let me know of your thoughts. More ideas from this fascinating book will be published in coming week:

First step: Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you want. It is not enough to say: I want plenty of money.

Second step: Determine exactly what you intend to give in return of money you want. There is no reality as ‘something for nothing’

Third: Establish a definite date by which you need money

Fourth: Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and then, begin at once, to put the plan into action.

Fifth: Write out a clear, concise statement of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for acquisition and what you intend to give in return and describe clearly the plan of action

Sixth: Read your written statement twice a day – aloud!

Now, its easy to believe and practice the above and at the same time, it is easy not to practice the above, terming this as non-sense. Choice is ours. However, I was just thinking: There is no harm in trying.

What do you think?

Hi Malik,

thanks for sharing your insights. It’s truly an inspring and fascinating book – especially its timelessness is fascinating. I’m writing one blog post every week at the moment about one chapter, we’re discussing these plans in our mastermind group, helps me gain even deeper insights.

Take care

Dear Oliver – thanks a lot for visiting the blog and your comments. You can write as a guest blogger for this blog too. Its great to see that you are practicing the ideas from Think and Grow Rich. Personally speaking, it really helps.

I listened to Napoleon Hill too, twice.

Sometimes we find people who are great thinkers and philosophers with great depth in whatever they do and how they do it. We might find them successful or otherwise.

Then there are others who are not that great in thinking but believe in actions and seek advice from the successful and then act upon it without the need to verify each and every word.

I think its also about identifying ourselves where we fit in best and then moving ahead.

I am listening to “Think and Grow Rich” for the second time, and I am realizing that there are things I was not ready to understand the first time I listened to it, it definitely is a text that has many layers and levels of meaning, It definitely is a book I recommend to read more than once.

I like your quotes, I will tell my friends about it.

Its so true Joseph – If you read the book, it gives some new idea almost every time. Thanks for visiting and your comments

Interested passage

“Mr. Hill has advocated that all the blessings of almighty including our ability to work, a sense of happiness, joy, peace of mind, strength, courage, wisdom and of course money – all are ‘riches’ and hence, one can achieve richness by ‘thinking’ first and then working towards them.”

I agree with this and besides this, have an observation that most of the people who want to get rich are somehow greedy for the money. They wont even follow ethics or moral values sometimes in this greed.

If somehow this greed could be controlled then there’s nothing bad in getting rich.

Secondly if getting rich in terms of money was the only way of getting all stuff in life, then many of the rich wont be spending so much in charity, the likes of Bill Gates (Microsoft), Larry Elison (Oracle) … and recently our own Malik Riaz (Bahria Town) who has given 75% of his assets in flood relief.

Thats so true Noman – Not only Gates, Malik Riaz and Larry but many other people have established their Foundations for philanthropy including Warren Buffet and George Soros. Thanks for your comments

Now days i m really into the learning process of business techs, these six tips are really good but i remember the one of the previous post which was ” its all about attitude”

All you need is motivation and courage..

thank you sir for sharing such valuable thoughts and yes Truly “Thoughts are things” –

keep spreading knowledge..

Thanks for comments Saleem – I hope practical life will have many lessons related to business – One of the books which can help is What they don’t teach you at Harvard Business School – Again, thanks for comments

Thnx Mr Malik for bringing another insight of great book. This classic book will give you something new, every time you read it.

NOW I have no doubt about it that “thoughts come before Action”, but unfortunately common saying is act, act….act. “Mr. Carnegie thought that much of what is taught in schools cannot make a person rich”. Very true! Not only Pakistani schools but also in all the western world schools. SOMETHING is missing. The missing piece of the puzzle is development of YOU i.e., personal development. And (non-text) books play a major role in building your thinking BIG.

This is on of the must-read book for my students, team members and associates. I highly recommend for all others OR at least to take insight from this blog.

The “wisdom from books” is great source to pop in the great books. Good work Mr Malik. Keep spreading.
