Wisdom From Books

The best way to predict Future!

Posted on: February 19, 2010

There was a wise man living on a mountaintop and people went there to ask him various questions. Whatever he said as an answer always came true. Many people including students, politicians, musicians, doctors, lawyers, accountants etc went to ask him questions and found their satisfactory answers. One day, a person decides to test the wise man. He made a plan to have a small bird in his hand. He planned to ask the wise man whether the bird in his hand is alive or dead.

If the wise person said: Alive, he will crush the bird. However, if the wise person said: Dead, he will open his hands and the bird will fly out – Alive. Either way, the person will prove the wise man wrong.

After making his plan, the person approached the wise person and asked: What do you think about the bird in my hand. Is it alive or is it dead?

The wise man looked towards the person and said:

My dear! Whether the bird is alive or dead; it’s in your hand!

The above is from the book: “Create your own future” by Brian Tracy. (www.briantracy.com)

Brian Tracy says: When I was 21, in the middle of a cold, cold winter, I sat in my small one-room apartment and contemplated my future. It didn’t look very promising. I was a high school dropout working as a construction laborer, too broke to even go out the week before payday. Suddenly, I had a revelation. Just like the story about the old man, I realized that everything that happened to me from that moment onward was in my own hands. No one else was going to do it for me. I was responsible.

One of the questions in philosophy is how to achieve happiness?

Is Success an accident? Brian Tracy says that Success is not a result of good luck versus bad luck. Even if you have not taken the time to clearly identify the steps you took or failed to take to get you from where you were to where you are today, a definite process has brought you to where you are at this minute.

Action items, as recommended by Brain Tracy are:

1. Develop your own personal definition of happiness. What sort of activities or conditions do you enjoy more than anything else?
2. Go to one of the top people in your field and ask that person for advice that will help you to be more successful.
3. Identify the luckiest events that have happened in your life and then trace back the various actions you took that contributed to them.
4. Determine the cause and effect relationships between something you want and the best way of getting it. What are they?
5. Take one specific action immediately that can increase the likelihood that you will achieve one of your goals. Do it now!

And Peter Drucker says: “The very best way to predict the future is………..

to create it”

More ideas from Brian Tracy to be posted in coming days. Your thoughts on creating future…..??

In conclusion, be who God created you to be, there is a reason for your existence, don’t allow people or circumstances to change you, be true to the Godly you.

wonderful i read almost all ur articles and im sooo impressed ..
keep up the good work 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thansk a lot sara for appreciation and comments – whenever you have time, will be happy to hear your experiences.

l really enjoyed the quotation, because life is in our hands to a certain extent. Whether we succeed or not, we fail if we do nothing at all.

Some of life’s greatest gifts come when we try and things don’t work out the way we hope. I know I am the person I am today because I tried.

“The principle of luck vs hard work.
Is this hard work or is this fate.
How much can I try and what are my limits.
If its all upto me, why dont things turn out the way I planned; and If things dont turn out the way I planned, what is the use of planning?”

These are some of the questions that we hear over and over and as I think, do not have a black and white answer.

However I believe, its upto us to try, to plan and to follow the golden principles, the time tested techniques of the successful. And then leave the rest to fate. As has been said time and again, by the great wise men of East, the gurus of West and young and old entrepreneurs – once you start following the rules and move forward according to a discipline, nature helps.

I would love to see the readers of this blog come up and share their views.

P.S. On a personal note, I am trying to build my website but its new for me. If anyone can help, that would be great!

Good one.
But its not only ourself who plans for our future. There is some one else who plans more good . For example i plan many things and work very hard to achieve that but it did not work out. now when i reflect back i simply say thanks because what ever happend, its much better than for what i planned.

Very well said – However, first step is to plan and when a person starts working, universe provides better results. One of the famous sports player once remarked: The hard I work, the luckier I get. Luck favours those who start working after they plan and results are better than what we think.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Appreciate your continuous sharing of ideas and comments.

Well done Malik …

Thanks a lot for your comments

Kool article… true … create your own future and decide strongly about the destination. Some time we just try to follow the shadow of unknown without realizing the results. We must plan and execute accordingly.

Thanks for your comments. Some one said: FEAR stands for False Expectations Assumed Real…..
